Do you want to eat Mexican food with a twist near Latin? Mesa Urbana is a restaurant in Lincoln Park. It is in the middle of a neighborhood in between two massive apartment buildings. They serve a fusion between Mexican and Middle Eastern. A few weeks ago I went with my parents to go eat there. It is extremely COVID-19 friendly as it has a large outdoor eating area. It feels that you are not in the middle of a neighborhood but rather in a park. On Fridays, they also have live music.
We ordered a ton of things as my family was super hungry! To start we ordered guacamole that came with chips and many vegetables. Such as cucumbers and watermelon. We also ordered a Kale salad which was an amazing twist on a modern salad. For my main dish, I ordered carne asada which was cooked perfectly and juicy. It came with a side of beans and asparagus. We finished with fish tacos that were crunchy and tasted amazing and Brussel sprouts that were warm.
When I spoke with the owner of the restaurant he told me that he wanted to do a fusion between Mexican and Middle Eastern because his family is Middle Eastern and he wanted to open a restaurant but he felt that Middle Eastern food was too basic and boring. He wanted to do something that was more creative with his restaurant so he settled on Mexican and Middle Eastern Fusion. He is an extremely proactive owner. Every time I have eaten there he is outside interacting with customers and genuinely wants them to have a good experience.
I highly recommend going to eat at Mesa Urbana. It is an amazing fusion of Mexican and Middle eastern, not something you can find everywhere. Each dish has amazing flavors that perfectly complement each other. All in all the restaurant has my seal of approval. Please go support local businesses and let them know that this article sent you! ¿Quieres comer comida Mexicana con un “twist” cerca de Latin? Mesa Urbana es un restaurante en Lincoln Park. Está realmente en el medio del barrio entre dos edificios. Ahí sirven una fusión de comida mexicana y de Oriente Medio. Hace unas semanas fui con mis padres y mi perro a comer ahí. Toman muchas precauciones contra el COVID-19. Por ejemplo, tienen una terraza muy grande para comer afuera. Se siente como si no estuvieras en el medio de un barrio sino en un parque. Los viernes tiene música afuera también.
¡Pedimos muchísimas cosas! Para comenzar pedimos guacamole que vino con pepino, jícama, sandía, rábano, remolacha amarilla y chips de tortilla. Todos los vegetales y frutas diferentes fueron riquísimos. También pedimos una ensalada de col verde con hierbas mexicanas que era una fusión rica de una ensalada moderna de los Estados Unidos. Para mi plato principal pedí conordancai que estaba cocida perfecta y muy jugosa. Venía con acompañamiento de frijoles y espárragos. Terminé con tacos de pescado que estaban crujientes y sabrosos. También pedimos coles de bruselas que eran calientes y muy buenos.
Cuando hablé con el dueño me dijo que quería hacer la fusión entre la comida Mexicana y la comida de porque su familia es de Oriente Medio pero la comida es muy básica. Quería hacer algo más creativo con su restaurante. El es un dueño muy proactivo, cada vez que voy él está afuera caminando por todos lados hablando con los clientes y realmente se preocupa de ellos y quiere que tengan una buena experiencia. Recomiendo encarecidamente ir a comer a Mesa Urbana, es una fusión de la comida mexicana y de Oriente Medio muy buena. Es algo que no puedes encontrar en todas partes. Todos los platos tienen tantos sabores diferentes que se complementan. Todo en todo el restaurante tiene mi sello de aprobación.
