English:
Hurricane Ida was no Hurricane Katrina, but it was close enough. This Hurricane struck Louisiana the hardest, making it the second most damaging hurricane in the state. It originated from a wave in the Caribbean Sea, which turned into a storm near Grand Cayman. It progressed into a hurricane while moving over Cuba, picking up intensification and making landfall on August 29th, 2021 in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Luckily, it gradually weakened over land, becoming a tropical depression on August 30th. But make no mistake, that was not the end. On September 1st, the depression formed into a post-tropical cyclone, accelerating through the northeastern part of the United States. It eventually moved out into the Atlantic the next day. Ida knocked down trees, destroyed homes, caused flooding, shut out the power, water, and lighting in homes, and even prompted the forming of a tornado outbreak. Cuba and too many states in the U.S. were hit, raising the question: Is this proof of climate change and could we have done more to prevent this, or was this simply a normal force of nature?
